"With this new release under psych/funk/jazz outfit Penza Penza, Panfilov stretches boundaries yet again while remaining melodic, accessible, and deeply funky. This instrumental record is chock-full of catchy earworms that effortlessly channel a heavy mix of Stax, Motown, Blue Note, Muscle Shoals, and the Brill Building: equally funky, heavy, jazzy, and poppy while eschewing the masturbatory “jam” elements so typical of many of their contemporaries."
